Got my degree in accounting and had to study on my own for the CPA test. Out of the 120 hours I had to complete less than 25 percent were in accounting and out of the 30 accounting hours maybe 15 hours were useful during my career.

1. Had very little to do with me passing the CPA.

I went to UTD school for my Master's in Information Technology Management and undergrad in Accounting. The professors at the school have been outstanding. Every other part of the schools administration have been unhelpful. Parking is horrendous even after they built several more parking garages. UTD has so many international student it can be challenging for companies for companies to find U.S. citizens if they are not wanting to sponsor.

The lack of online classes really makes my life difficult. My previous university had them and it was such a blessing. Now at UTD my work schedule has been severely limited because I have to go to a class when I could be taking it online. If I had all the time in the world id most definitely prefer a regular class, but that's just not how my life works right now.

Another problem with classes is how few sections there are. Some classes only have one time for that semester and if it doesn't work for some reason you're screwed. Or, you're forced to take a professor you don't want which could impact your grade.

I transferred here a year ago from a bigger university and this school has the same problems I'd expect from any other. Typical administration issues, incompetent TAs, etc.

I loved the tour and the college looks so picturesque can't wait to visit this year

Overall UTD is a good school. The campus is beautiful, the coursework is challenging, and there are some pretty great professors here. True it's not much of a party school but my last uni was so I prefer UTDs quiet atmoshpere.

2. Does not prepare you for the real accounting world.

However there are some glaring problems that this university seriously needs to address. This one they know: parking is terrible. The green lot fills up so fast you can't find anywhere to park, not even the last row! I have to leave 30-40 minutes early even though I live by the school! They also charge for parking for not only students but visitors as well, which to me is in poor taste. I don't agree with schools charging for parking anyway, but they can never get enough money can they?

The campus is wonderful, no doubt. What's being taught on the campus, on the other hand, is a tad dubious.
